Per-country and family-inclusive entry totals are published only through DV-2021. DV-2026 had 20,822,624 qualified entries and about 129,516 registered selectees, for roughly 52,000 visas.
How to read these numbers
- Being selected is not a visa: the Department of State selects more people than there are visas, and the order of your rank number decides whether a visa is still available.
- Regions receive different numbers of visas, and no single country may receive more than 7% of the visas available in a year.
- Natives of countries that sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States in the previous five years cannot enter; the list changes every year.
- Your country is normally your country of birth, not your nationality or residence. See the eligibility rules.

Questions
What are my chances of winning the DV lottery?
Selection is a randomized computer drawing, and within each region every entry has an equal chance. Across DV-2019 to DV-2021, about 1 in 189 people entered worldwide (counting spouses and children) was selected, but the rate differs a lot by region and country. The table shows each country’s historical rate.
Why do some countries have much better odds?
Visas are allocated by region, no country may receive more than 7% of the visas in a year, and the number of entries per country varies enormously. Countries with few entries in a region with many visas tend to show higher historical rates.
Why are entry numbers after DV-2021 missing?
The State Department has published per-country entry counts only through DV-2021. It publishes the number of selectees per country for later years, which the table shows for DV-2024 to DV-2026.
Can anything improve my chance of selection?
No. Paying an agent or a service cannot change a random drawing, and submitting more than one entry disqualifies you. A married couple may each submit one entry if both are eligible, listing each other.
Does being selected mean I get a visa?
No. More people are selected than there are visas, and each applicant must still qualify at the interview before 30 September of the program year.
